What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Vehicle Operator (Grounds) position at State of New York - University at Albany?
Duties Description The Motor Vehicle Operator would be assigned to the Grounds Dept. and would be the driver for garbage truck (trash pickups for uptown/downtown campuses are required 7 days/week). This Motor Vehicle Operator would also operate large dump trucks, a street sweeper, garbage and recycling trucks, and large snow plow/salter vehicles during the week as required.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must possess a New York State Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Candidates may be required to possess a CDL Class A, B, C or General Class D license.
OPERATING NEEDS:
Valid New York State Commercial Driver's License - Class B.
Ability to perform manual labor.
Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime to support Campus events and snow removal is required.
Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
Appointment will be contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment testing for controlled substance use as mandated by the Federal Highway Administration Omnibus Transportation Act of 1991 (OTETA). Employment cannot commence until notification for successful completion of this pre-employment testing is received. Please note that in addition to the initial testing required by OTETA, the Act further requires that the University conduct pre-assignment (promotion), reasonable suspicion, post-accident, random, follow-up and return to duty drug and alcohol testing throughout the period of employment.
