The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Under the general direction of the Senior Research Manager assigned to Planning, Research & Development, the incumbent will: DUTIESSupervise assigned Planning Section personnel: set performance expectations, monitor task progress, conduct evaluations, and support professional development within the scope of delegated responsibilities.Mentor and support staff in enhancing their analytical, research, and communication skills.Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices that align with legal requirements and agency goals.Plan and conduct research and analytic studies to support unit and agency-wide priorities.Determine data needs for assigned projects, select sources, assess reliability, and validate findings.Employ both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze data, identify trends, and assess program effectiveness.Coordinate research activities, timelines, and deliverables with internal stakeholders and external partners; may lead or participate in meetings and presentations.Interpret and synthesize data to inform decision-making; adjust objectives or methods as necessary based on findings.Prepare written reports, statistical summaries, and presentations that communicate findings clearly and persuasively.Provide informed recommendations for program or policy modifications based on research results.Assist with the drafting and presentation of research findings to internal audiences and, when appropriate, external bodies, including professional organizations.Contribute to the preparation and review of publications such as white papers, policy briefs, and peer-reviewed articles that support evidence-based policing.Assign and oversee specific tasks or project components; ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality deliverables from staff under supervision.Respond to information requests from internal stakeholders, external partners, and the public (e.g., Division website or public safety initiatives).Support the grant process by identifying relevant funding opportunities, assisting with proposal development, ensuring compliance, and preparing documentation related to grant awards.Analyze input from internal suggestion programs to identify issues and contribute to developing actionable solutions.Review work products from team members for clarity, organization, feasibility, and alignment with objectives.Develop and deliver visual presentations (e.g., PowerPoint) and communicate research results effectively to a variety of audiences.Maintain familiarity with crime data reporting systems including Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), and associated databases and protocols.Serve as liaison to other sections within the Division and to external stakeholders on matters related to assigned projects.Perform other duties as assigned by the Planning Section leadership.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree or higher and three (3) years’ experience in a research and analysis work environment.Preference may be given to candidates with the following qualifications: PhD level Candidates (or PhD expected by May, 2026).Candidates with degrees in Criminal Justice, Public Policy, Sociology, or Government AdministrationRecognized strong organizational skills, as well as superior written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated experience in project management and/or research methods.Demonstrated experience in information analysis with particular emphasis in crime data.Demonstrated experience in the grant application and management processes.Resumes will be evaluated to determine whether candidates will proceed to the interview phase of the process.
