The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Reporting directly to the Deputy Medicaid Inspector General (DMIG) for Audit, the AMIG for Audit is responsible for managing audits and other work conducted by the Division of Medicaid Audit. This includes overseeing audits covering the full spectrum of the Medicaid program, including audits of managed care plans and providers. The incumbent will assist the DMIG in developing and implementing the overall strategic direction of the division, development of new initiatives, and other special projects as assigned. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: • Confer with the DMIG for Audit to define audit projects, initiatives, long-term objectives and management of the division: o Supervise the activities of the bureaus of Managed Care Audit, Nursing Home Rate Audit, and Provider Audit. o Provide direct supervision and mentoring to bureau directors, managers and staff. Communicate executive vision, priorities, preferences and approach. Set appropriate professional standards. o Provide guidance, advice and/or direction to division staff in resolving sensitive, novel, or critical issues. o Work with the DMIG to establish long term goals for DMA, and to keep DMIG apprised of current DMA assignments, procedures, goals, and performance metrics in achieving those goals.o Assist with internal reporting, communication, and coordination with the other divisions and bureaus. o Oversee staffing, recruitment, professional development, and succession management planning. o Assist the DMIG or members of the executive leadership team in preparing internal and external communications, presentations, or other projects, as directed. o Ensure consistency and coordination between DMA bureaus. o Provide leadership, guidance, supervision and mentoring to Bureau Directors and managers. Promote an atmosphere of inclusiveness and respect, professional motivation and curiosity.o Provide a high level of programmatic knowledge and assist with applying it to novel, sensitive, critical, and high-profile issues.• Collaborate and liaison with other governmental entities on DMA audits and reviews, including the Department of Health, Office of Addiction Services and Supports, Office of Mental Health, Office of Persons with Developmental Disabilities, and the Office of the Attorney General – Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. • Be knowledgeable of laws, regulations and policies applicable to OMIG’s authority, and to the Medicaid program, and of any changes. Coordinate the review and analysis of significant new legislation, regulations, contracts, and policy for potential impacts to the Medicaid program and to the work of the division. • Participate in Webinars or presentations to external stakeholders. • Represent OMIG and serve as programmatic liaison with external stakeholders on matters related to OMIG’s audits of managed care plans and providers. • Attend executive team meetings, as directed, and contribute to ongoing dialogue(s) regarding the agency mission and the division’s goals. • Provide input into the establishment of legislative, regulatory, and administrative goals and strategies in support of the agency’s mission, particularly with respect to the work of DMA.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree and eight years of relevant experience, three years of which must have been at a managerial level. Extensive experience with the NYS Medicaid program is strongly preferred.

This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class.
