Duties Description Under the direct supervision of a Plant Utilities Engineer, the Plant Utilities Assistan will be responsible for assisting in the operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and control equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation and air conditioning, maintaining and repairing boilers, pumps, controls, other power plant auxiliary equipment, and electrical and mechanical stationary equipment
Minimum Qualifications Transfer Opportunity: NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Plant Utilities Assistant (G-9) or Boiler Inspector (G-14) and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate should be familiar with the specialized needs of a health-related and/or laboratory facility. The candidate should have a solid understanding of energy conservation methodologies applicable to laboratory facilities, including laboratory capital equipment, commercial HVAC systems, high-pressure steam, and related ancillary equipment. Candidate should also be familiar with arc flash and lockout-tagout procedures.
shift assignment is subject to bidding based on DOH-Wadsworth Seniority time and may be subject to change based on operation requirements. Overtime may be required.
