The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to oversee all aspects of the regional furbearer and small game mammal program, along with the regional migratory and upland gamebird programs. The incumbent will manage these programs through species-specific research and monitoring programs; convey research findings through reports, presentations and technical advice; and represent the region on the statewide management team. Incumbent will collect, analyze and present harvest data; design and implement research and management projects; and review and develop regulations concerning the management of these species. Additional job duties may be assigned as dictated by regional needs. This position will require the ability to effectively communicate with the public, law enforcement agencies, and elected officials on avoiding or minimizing conflicts with wildlife via phone, in-person, social media, press interviews and formal public presentations. Must be able to deal effectively with the public and have good verbal skills, both in person and in a public-speaking forum. Experience with hunting and trapping preferred.

Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
