The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Provide technical review of Article 15 and 24 permit applications, for regional Bureau of Habitat, including site assessments, to determine potential impacts to rivers and freshwater wetlands by proposed development.Investigate potential violations of NYS ECL Article 15 and 24 by documenting impacts to natural resources and working with other DEC programs to coordinate an effective resolution. Delineate freshwater wetland boundaries by identifying and documenting the presence of hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils and signs of hydrology. Communicate with the public regarding the functions and benefits of the region’s freshwater wetland and river resources and help facilitate understanding of the regulatory requirements pertaining to these resources. Represent the region at meetings and in working groups that seek to protect, maintain, enhance, and restore ecosystem health to support a diverse and productive fish and wildlife resource that allows a wide array of uses.Assist with coordination and implementation of regional herpetofauna surveys and habitat management projects.
