Why does the job exist?
This position will provide assistance and guidance to the New Mexico Corrections Departments (NMCD) facilities and divisions in understanding procurement code and the application of it in procuring services and tangible goods. The position will audit all purchase order requests and payment vouchers from the various facilities/divisions within NMCD to ensure procurement code mandates and DFA's rules are being met. This position will also serve as the mail runner for NMCD Central Office.
How does it get done?
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Pre-employment background check is required and conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.

- Process requisitions, purchase orders, payment vouchers, travel requests and travel reimbursements
- Analyze, prepare and pre-audit invoice packets
- Utilize SHARE to determine voucher status
- Track incoming vouchers and distribute accordingly
- Pre-audit and process vouchers and warrant cancellations
