Why does the job exist?
This job exists to supervise all Mental Health Technicians and assist with daily monitoring of patients. This position works closely with clinical, education, and milieu staff.
How does it get done?
Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma Informed Care are the cornerstone of treatment at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center. De-escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents and life skills are taught to assist with success upon discharge.
Who are the customers?
Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males ages 13-17 with a history of violence and/or aggression.
Ideal Candidate
Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males ages 13-17 with a history of violence and/or aggression.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or must obtain Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of hire as a condition of continued employment. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may work in an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying one-hundred plus (100 ) pounds with assistance may be required. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
