Why does the job exist?
Provides assistance with kitchen duties which include service and sanitation duties, as well as other related duties, such as preparing desserts, stocking supplies from warehouse, obtaining food/supplies as needed, keeping kitchen clean and sanitary, prepare salads and drinks, load/empty food carts, attend in-service staff meetings, dish washing and delivering food carts to units.
How does it get done?
Examine trays to ensure that they contain required items.
Place food servings on plates or trays according to orders or instructions.
Monitor food distribution, ensuring that meals are delivered to the correct recipients and that guidelines, such as those for special diets, are followed.
Load trays with accessories such as eating utensils, napkins, or condiments.
Clean or sterilize dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, or facilities.
Who are the customers?
Residents at a long-terms care facility.
Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Position will work in a kitchen and moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
Communicates with nursing personnel, and medical staff.
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.,
Is subject to sudden temperature changes when entering refrigerator.
May be exposed to heat/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage area.
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
