>Providing executive-level accounting expertise to agencies, including temporary CFO appointments during leadership gaps or periods of high turnover.
>Leading statewide financial reporting initiatives, internal control efforts, and risk mitigation strategies that improve transparency and compliance.
>Designing and delivering financial training to build capacity and elevate skills across state agencies.
>Serving as a subject-matter expert on New Mexico¿s SHARE (ERP) system by advising agencies on best practices, configuration improvements, and process efficiencies.
>Partnering with agency directors, auditors, and policymakers to modernize statewide financial practices and support sound fiscal management.

This position supports all State of New Mexico agencies, including boards, commissions, higher education institutions, and other public entities that rely on DFA for financial oversight, guidance, and expertise.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, budgeting, public accounting, and conducting financial audits to include a minimum of two (2) years preparing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports or equivalent experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Pre-employment criminal background check is required, and employment is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Working conditions include, but not limited to: Work is performed in an office setting. Frequent late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required related to end-of-year financial reporting cycles. Travel may be required. Incumbent will frequently work under time constraints and is expected to maintain the highest level of professional conduct, ethics and confidentiality. Exposure to VDT's, CRT's or UV rays.
