Why does the job exist?

The Adult Protective Services (APS) Regional Manager is the strategic leader and operational backbone of our regional field operations. This position exists to build, guide, and empower a dedicated team of supervisors and case workers who protect New Mexico's most vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. As a Regional Manager, you don't just oversee compliance; you shape the culture of advocacy, accountability, and clinical excellence in the field. You are responsible for the programmatic integrity of high-stakes investigations, ensuring your region executes sound crisis interventions and wraps critical services around individuals in need. By managing critical resources, navigating complex systemic barriers, and fostering vital partnerships with law enforcement, medical systems, and community leaders, you ensure your team has the support and direction they need to make definitive, life-changing impacts every single day.
How does it get done?

The Regional Manager drives the mission forward by providing high-level administrative leadership across regional field operations while contributing to broader statewide initiatives. This role focuses heavily on empowering county-based supervisors and fostering a cohesive, accountable team culture dedicated to adult protective best practices that carefully balance immediate client safety with a fierce respect for personal autonomy and self-determination. By leveraging Quality Assurance reviews and collaborative audits, the Regional Manager champions continuous program improvement, resolves complex constituent concerns, and serves as a vital bridge between local front-line staff and Division leadership. Ultimately, results are achieved through deep systemic teamwork. The manager collaborates closely with law enforcement, medical systems, and community networks to leverage resources and enhance the overall reach of the program across New Mexico.
Who are the customers?

The Regional Manager oversees services delivered directly to New Mexico's most vulnerable adults, ages 18 and older, who are experiencing or at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. However, the true impact of this work extends much further. By intervening effectively, the role brings critical support, clarity, and relief to families and caregivers navigating high-stakes crises. Furthermore, the position serves New Mexico taxpayers by ensuring public resources are managed with strict accountability, efficiency, and integrity. Ultimately, this work is done for the entire community.
