SUMMARY:
To participate in and supervise the loading, securing and transportation of heavy equipment and vehicles statewide on tractor trailer unit, on 24-hour basis
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school and include experience in the operation of motorized highway equipment.
License/Certification: Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A (CDL-A) with appropriate tank endorsement and no pintle restriction.

When applicable, the work of an employee in trainee status in this position shall be overseen by a fully qualified individual. An employee in trainee status shall meet the minimum qualifications within the period of time specified on the SJD, not to exceed one year of being hired into this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates and maintains tractor trailer unit for the transportation of equipment such as backhoes, motor graders, rollers, or similar equipment.
Operates all NHDOT fleet equipment to load onto trailers and/or ramp trucks.
Rigs to secure equipment being transported to ensure proper load positioning and minimal load shifting during transport.
Supervises and assumes full responsibility for unit operation in supervisorās absence to provide continuous transporting and other related services.
Rigs, uprights and retrieves errant heavy equipment to minimize further damage and prepare for transport.
Inspects, maintains and adjusts assigned equipment daily and performs field repairs as necessary to ensure efficient and reliable operating condition and extended equipment life.
Works from generalized work schedules, adjusting for changes in weather conditions to provide timely delivery and maximum equipment utilization.
Operates bucket loaders have various attachments or other necessary equipment for snow removal as assigned on 24-hour, 7-day per week basis.
Cross trains and/or operates other specialized equipment including the Departmentās educator, yard cranes, forklifts, or other equipment.
Performs work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.

- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the Department of Transportation.
- Offers of employment are conditional upon the individual obtaining a Commercial Driverās License medical card unless the candidate is currently employed by the State of New Hampshire.
- Receive a negative result on a pre-employment urinalysis drug screen in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations and US DOT requirements.
- Ability to lift/carry material weighing up to 50 lbs. on an intermittent basis.
- Possession of a telephone or acceptable means of communication and be available 24 hours per day.
