The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada Health Authority is hiring for a Social Services Program Specialist II. This position is part of the Division of Nevada Medicaid's Pharmacy Services Unit and is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies related to prescription and medical pharmacy drugs. The role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, the Single Preferred Drug List (SPDL), and drug utilization management practices, while ensuring consistency across Medicaid delivery systems. It involves close collaboration with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and vendors, providing guidance on coverage, medical billing, and clinical criteria. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
