The Position
Casework Management Specialists provide casework services and service coordination for children, vulnerable and/or older adults, and their respective families and may be assigned to one of many specialized programs and/or facilities where duties may be performed in the home and/or any similar residential setting.
Incumbents perform some of the duties described in the series concept and continue to receive training in performing the duties outlined in the series concept.
THE DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking a Casework Management Specialist 2 (CMS2) for the Intake Unit in the Carson City Child Welfare office. This position will be underfilling the Casework Management Specialist 3. The CMS2 will be responsible for the initial Intake Assessment to identify children who may be in need of protection. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting thorough, pertinent information through motivational interviewing so that a sound and sufficient safety decision can be made. The CMS2 will gather information in accordance with the information collection standard outlined in the Intake Policy. They will be responsible for understanding the SAFE model, especially present and impending danger. The incumbent will conduct and document Diligent Searches according to statewide policy and DCFS procedure; respond to after-hours on-call emergencies; and act in accordance with statute, regulation, policy and procedure. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, human growth and development, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, gerontology, or closely related social science or human services related field and one year of professional experience providing casework services to clients in a health and/or human services program; OR one year of experience as a Casework Management Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience above the Bachelor's degree level as described above.
Special Notes
Licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker or Clinical Social Worker may be substituted for one year of required work experience. Individuals who have current licensure may be required to maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment.
