The Position
Biologists conduct fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects and research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; develop and implement project proposals and work plans; prepare recommendations; and participate in public relations activities.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Lincoln County Game Biologist position is located in Panaca and has responsibilities for population management, habitat management and other duties associated with big game, upland game, and furbearer species within assigned management areas (13, 22, 23, 24, and 27) in Lincoln, Nye, and Clark Counties. Major duties consist of survey and inventory which include aerial and ground survey techniques, data management, data analysis/population modeling, report writing, and public presentations. The position will work extensively with land management agencies, sportsmen, landowners and the public. The Lincoln County Biologist will work directly with the Lincoln County Mule Deer enhancement team and County Advisory Board. The Lincoln County Biologist will work with private landowners through the elk incentive program and the deer and antelope compensation program. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field; OR graduation from high school and two years of technical wildlife management or fisheries experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience in conducting research studies; data collection, analysis and interpretation; and development and implementation of project proposals for fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects.
Special Notes
Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions in remote and/or primitive locations.
Working on occasional nights and/or weekends may be required.
Special Requirements
Statewide travel and outdoor work is required.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
