The Nevada Gaming Control Board is seeking an individual for the position of Executive Operations Manager, within our Administration Division in either our Carson City or Reno, Nevada office locations. Under general direction from the Chairperson of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the Executive Operations Manager oversees daily operational readiness for the Carson City and Reno offices, addressing building and access issues, personnel matters, and workflow disruptions. The role serves as the initial point of contact for facility problems, security or access challenges, and staff concerns, ensuring timely communication, coordination with leadership, and appropriate follow-up.
Required qualifications include four years of education from an accredited college or university in public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or other applicable degree; and five years of progressively responsible professionally related experience in business, accounting, or fiscal management, including three years in a supervisory or management level position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Both education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Manages daily operations for the Carson City & Reno offices, directing staff in the Records & Research and Accounting Sections, ensuring policies, procedures, and controls comply with laws and statewide directives. It oversees records management, fiscal transactions, reconciliations, & reporting, while serving as liaison to Human Resources to coordinate recruitment, classification, compensation, employee relations, and policy compliance. The role develops job announcements, assessments, and guidance documents; investigates workplace issues and recommends appropriate actions; drafts and analyzes policy changes; monitors HR processes for compliance; convenes management meetings; and ensures daily operational readiness. Travel between offices is required.
The Executive Operations Manager requires strong knowledge of operational management, public administration, records management, fiscal processes, and statewide personnel laws, rules, and regulations. Expertise in developing and implementing policies, evaluating compliance, and supporting administrative and HR functions. Essential skills include leadership, strategic planning, supervisory oversight, and the ability to effectively manage professional and support staff across multiple locations. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in recruitment, classification, compensation, employee relations, & workplace investigations. Strong analytical skills to ensure accurate financial and operational reporting. The position also requires excellent communication skills, problem-solving, decision-making, managing disruptions, to ensure operational readiness.
