This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Construction Project Unit. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do
  • Prioritize excellent customer service for wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
  • Read blueprints and plan specifications to layout walls, systems furniture, plumbing, data, and electrical systems per project needs.
  • Perform trades work and apply trade-specific knowledge to troubleshooting, repair and construction projects statewide.
  • Work with internal and external network support providers to troubleshoot and maintain network and communication user devices and links of moderate complexity in assigned organizational areas.
  • Monitor and complete tasks associated with the state’s inside wiring program; including designing and installing both copper and fiber network cabling.
  • Facilitate inter-agency communication for Inside Wiring projects, and assist with install and implementation of new network infrastructure on a case-by-case basis.
  • Produce specifications for all hardware and equipment necessary to complete an inside wiring job.
  • Communicate with and assist State of Missouri agency staff with determining and designing any cabling needs.
  • Effectively communicate with installers and vendors regarding job requirements, quotes, scheduling, billing, etc.
  • Review and assign bids for outsourced work.
  • Produce quotes to agencies for proposed jobs.
  • Evaluate network configurations for agencies and provide recommendations for changes, as well as implement certain enhancements.
  • Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.
  • Other projects and special duties as assigned.
Qualifications - All you need for success
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate and lead with integrity in a manner that inspires trust and builds positive rapport with a diverse group of stakeholders and the public.
  • Knowledge of current data communications best practices and industry standards for network cabling.
  • Knowledge of various cable types and associated capabilities and limitations.
  • Experience in pulling and terminating various network cabling.
  • Familiarity with network cabling hardware including but not limited to patch panels, various network racks/enclosures, various designs of termination jacks, cable ends, cable management devices, etc.
  • Ability to interpret and apply plans, construction specifications, blueprints, building codes, environmental regulations, and safety codes.
  • 5 years of skilled experience in the construction trades area preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of all trade areas. (OSHA 10 or 30 preferred, but OA-FMDC can provide training once hired if needed.)
  • Excellent attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of information technology experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Experience with installing data communications cabling.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from Missouri or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri.
