Legal Assistant – General Counsel’s Office – Transportation

Annual Salary: $37,799.76

HOW THIS POSITION SUPORTS THE DEPARTMENT’S VISION:
This position provides administrative support for attorneys handling violations of driver licensing and motor vehicle statutes. Duties include case initiation, case updates, case dispositions and close outs in the department’s case management system. The employee will work closely with field office staff in Kansas City and St. Louis as well as with staff in the Driver’s License Bureau and Motor Vehicle Bureau.
DUTIES PERFORMED TO SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENT’S VISION

- Identifying and processing incoming legal mail and faxes
- E-filing legal documents with the courts
- Coordinating trial dates with courts and law enforcement
- Obtaining documents for use in court
- Organizing and maintaining the legal file
- Assigning new cases to attorneys
- Case updates
- Closing legal files in case management system and communication disposition to the Driver’s License Bureau or Motor Vehicle Bureau
- Answering and directing phone calls
- Assisting as needed with front desk duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in office setting, preferably a legal setting
- Detail oriented and have excellent organization skills
- Ability to multitask
- Good communication skills
