This position will be located at the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Southwest Regional Office, 2040 West Woodland, Springfield, MO 65807. This position is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Supervise team members in the Waste Management Unit, encompassing solid waste, scrap tires, and hazardous waste. Work directly with your Section Chief in ensuring team members meet their goals by tracking and effective management techniques.
- Conduct hiring recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Prepare and review technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance, sharing information and influencing issues.
- Provide compliance assistance to entities on Waste Management, understanding the Laws and Regulations for solid waste, scrap tires, and hazardous waste.
- Work with others on your team, assisting in other program areas as needed.
- Assist your team members with inspections or investigations if necessary to complete U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) goals.
- Attend public meetings as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed) in the field of science (i.e. chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, wildlife management, natural resources).
- Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
