Human Resources Generalist
The St. Louis Psychiatric Rehabilitation System – St. Louis (FTC) seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and experienced HR professional to provide consultative services and leadership to assigned units within the Facility. The Human Resources Generalist – Employee Engagement and Retention will support FTC objectives in the areas of HR. This role will support FTC and Hawthorn campus as needed.
In addition, this role will provide leadership in FTC employee engagement and retention efforts and serve as a liaison to the DMH’s HR Center of Excellence. Along with colleagues at FTC and DMH, this HR team member will model a positive, service-oriented approach. The position will report directly to the HR Director with a dotted line to the CEO’s. The role will deep dive employee data, pulse survey results and metrics under the guidance and supervision of the HR Director.

Consultative Services and Leadership
- Collaborate with administrators, managers, faculty and staff to understand goals, objectives and priorities of assigned units
- Ensure the integrity of Human Resources’ structures, policies and processes to provide consistent and positive stakeholder experiences
- Collect and analyze workforce data, communicate with organizational leaders for planning and staffing decisions, make recommendations for process improvements and assist with trend analysis
- Operate with minimal guidance, and be a self-directed learner who is flexible and adaptable to changing environments

- Perform other duties as assigned or is necessary to provide HR service and support to the campus
- The role may participate in employee relations discussion, counseling, partnership and investigations of sensitive and confidential matters including employee performance, equity complaints, policy interpretation and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with DMH collected rules and regulations, policies, campus processes and procedures and state and federal employment law
- Provide performance management counseling and training
- Conduct periodic supervisory training
- Guide assigned units on value-added onboarding and thorough offboarding processes
- Recommend, develop, provide, and/or oversee training, education, and resources to increase employee development and engagement
- Design programs to support employee retention
- Ensure compliance with all required Facility and unit-level trainings
- Provide HR expertise to medical staff searches processes
- Represent FTC in the recruitment Initiatives
- Lead orientation and onboarding for new staff members
- Work with leaders in assigned units on talent acquisition needs
- Sourcing and screening candidates, which includes the applicable reference check requirements.
- Coordinating or preparing offer letters.
- The role will focus on new employee orientation and experience pre- and post-employment.
- The role will directly manage the scheduling and coordination of the panel interview and all associated record keeping.
- Develop and disseminate employee communication materials and reports in collaboration with the HR Executive Director; topics include pulse surveys, compliance requirements, performance management
- Audit and ensure TV HR communications, installments and table toppers across FTC & Hawthorn to maximize employee engagement and consistency.
- This role will survey and track new hires from day 1 to the conclusion of their 6-month probationary period.
- The ideal candidate will coordinate HR 101 training for incoming and new to role supervisors and managers, implementing the best practices for optimal employee engagement.
- A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
- In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in the HR function
- Knowledge of best practices and concepts in the HR function and HR integrates with other functions
- HR experience talent management, especially talent acquisition
- HR experience in higher education
- Professional certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.
