Job Summary

This position exists to support the Facilities Management Office by providing the design/drafting for the construction of projects for the Minnesota Army National Guard.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Requires completion of a 2-year technical architectural drafting program and 3 years of architectural experience or equivalent; or 10 years working experience in the architectural drafting field.

Requires knowledge of current costs, construction principles, practices/methods, and materials.

Requires the knowledge and ability to review construction documents, to plan and prepare complete construction documents, and to prepare cost estimates, material lists, and schedules for projects.

Requires the ability to perform technical computations.

Requires skill in the use of CADD equipment and software, calculators, and reproduction equipment.

Requires experience drafting construction documents for mechanical/electrical, structural and landscape construction.

Requires experience preparing construction specifications using CSI format.

Must possess a valid Minnesota driver license

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED certification
  • Five years’ experience in an architectural structural engineering CADD drafting capabilities.
  • Have construction experiences that will provide knowledge of commercial construction means and methods.

Have a working knowledge of Military regulations and procedures with the ability to communicate within the hierarchy of Military commands.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and/or transporting articles weighing 50 pounds maximum and frequently lifting and/or carrying objects such as heavy tools and file boxes. This job may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain. This job will require moving and about and changing positions especially when visiting construction sites to inspect progress and quality.
