Job Summary

This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

The position implements the agency’s American Disability Act (ADA) Title I Program, manages reasonable accommodation requests and processes, and administers related programs. Responsibilities include implementing procedures, tracking, and monitoring ADA requests, maintaining meticulous records, formalizing all ADA accommodations, collecting, and analyzing data for administrative reports, documenting the interactive process with applicants, employees. and supervisors and reviewing requests based on policy and law. In addition, the position provides objective, impartial, and precise legal and policy advice to all levels of the organization to ensure standardized compliance with agency policy and requirements and provides trainings for supervisors, managers, and Human Resources professionals regarding ADA.

This position has access to labor relations information as defined in M.S. 13.37 and will participate in meetings where state labor negotiation proposals are discussed and evaluated; use labor relations information as it relates to employee ADA and FMLA processes. The position will also have access to employee confidential, private data, and medical records and will be responsible for the proper storage and retention of this data. Additionally, occasional travel will be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of advanced professional experience administering ADA Title I (employment) that demonstrates:

  • Experience interpreting and applying the American Disability Act (ADA) and other related laws and policies to accommodation requests from applicants and employees.
  • Experience researching and analyzing information sufficient to make decisions and/or recommendations determining whether an accommodation is reasonable or an undue hardship.
  • Experience advising management and/or other professionals regarding the ADA employer compliance.
  • Experience developing and implementing ADA processes, procedures, or policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold a current license to practice law in the State of Minnesota.
  • Experience with Minnesota Management & Budget’s (MMB) Connect 700 Program.
  • Experience implementing ADA Title I in a public sector environment.
  • Knowledge and experience applying Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 to evaluate needs and compliance in an employment environment.
