Job Summary

  • Approximately, 75% travel.
  • This position is eligible for telework for applicants who reside in Minnesota or in a bordering state, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles or less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework.

This position exists to conduct on site screening of newly, currently, or reenrolling Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) providers. The role of the Screening Specialist is to travel throughout the state to conduct screening activity for moderate or high-risk providers to verify accuracy of information submitted to the Department of Human Services (DHS) and to review compliance with Federal and State requirements for enrollment eligibility. Screening activities are a key step in identifying and preventing program integrity concerns.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of professional experience with compliance monitoring or provider enrollment regarding Minnesota health care programs.

AND

Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Make recommendations on provider enrollment status.
  • Conduct research using multiple data sources.
  • Document information obtained through interviews.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of:
  • Minnesota Health Care Programs
  • Fee-for-service and Managed Care Organizations
  • Minnesota Medicaid Information System (MMIS)
  • SharePoint, specifically the Case Tracker system within SharePoint
  • Electronic Data Management System (EDMS/Navigator)
  • General understanding of the purpose and role of compliance, oversight, and regulation, specifically in government
  • Critical thinking and professional judgement in order to react and pivot actions on site in response to situations.
  • Written skills to be able to document findings and recommendations in an accurate, clear and concise manner.
  • Typing and computer skills to perform data entry, report generation, and electronic system navigation.
  • Time management and organizational skills in order to use time and resources efficiently.
  • Practice and implement safety measures and techniques while working in the field independently.
  • Be able to handle multiple work projects at a time and logically plan and prioritize their work.
  • Communication skills in order to clearly convey expectations and direction to providers.
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.

Additional Requirements

Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License with no disqualifying moving violations within the past two years.

Be able to navigate physical environments that may not be accessible.

Be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds intermittently.

This position requires successful completion of the following:

It is the policy of the Department of Human Services that the individual selected for this position successfully complete a background investigation prior to employment, including the following components:

  • Criminal background check
  • Reference check
  • Fingerprinting check (MNJIS/CJIS)

Complete the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Security Awareness training within 3-business days from the start of employment; and successfully obtain/retain CJIS certification annually.
