Job Summary
The Data Practices Clerk position in the Office of Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan works in our Legal Department. The Data Practices Clerk is responsible for helping work on data practices requests. This is a part-time, paid position with a commitment of 15-20 hours per week. Hybrid-work possible.
What you will do:
In this role you will work with the Deputy General Counsel to review and organize data pursuant to the requirements of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
What we are looking for:
- Understanding of various legal principles, specifically related to data practices and attorney-client privilege.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clarity
- Attention to detail
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Understanding of various legal principles, specifically related to data practices and attorney-client privilege.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft tools, including Word and Excel as well as Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Qualifications
- Attorney, paralegal or currently enrolled in law school with preference for 3L students.
- Experience with Everlaw or other document management programs.
- Experience with document review.
- Training in critical-legal thinking.
Physical Requirements
Light lifting, up to 10 pounds, the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Additional Requirements
Background check, SEMA4 records check (if current or prior state employee), driver’s license verification, and reference checks.
