Job Summary

The Facilities Project Manager provides agency-wide leadership, expertise, and coordination in support of DEED’s real property planning and management. This position oversees facility projects including relocations, remodeling, reconfigurations, and space planning across DEED’s headquarters and more than 50 statewide locations. The Facilities Project Manager also serves as DEED’s primary point of contact for real estate, leasing coordination, space utilization, and vendor management, and acts as DEED’s Sustainability Coordinator, advancing enterprise and agency sustainability priorities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage DEED’s statewide facilities projects, including relocations, remodels, and space reconfigurations.
  • Coordinate with Real Estate and Construction Services (RECS), vendors, landlords, building management, and DEED staff to deliver projects on time and within standards.
  • Provide space planning support and ensure projects meet DEED, RECS, and Office of State Procurement (OSP) requirements.
  • Serve as DEED’s main contact for real property planning, leasing, and space utilization.
  • Lead DEED’s sustainability efforts and represent the agency in enterprise sustainability initiatives.

This position requires monthly local travel to oversee remodeling projects, conduct space assessments, meet with vendors, review reconfiguration needs with site managers, complete final site walkthroughs with landlords, and perform other duties as assigned.

This is a temporary unclassified appointment anticipated to last up to three (3) years.

This position is telework eligible. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years* of experience in project management.

  • Associate’s degree in project management, business administration, facilities management, construction management, or a closely related field as determined by the agency may substitute for six (6) months of experience; bachelor's degree and above substitutes for one (1) year of experience.

Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated in the following:

  • Experience coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skills in meeting facilitation, communication, and interpersonal collaboration.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent projects, including schedules, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
  • Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license and insurance OR have other reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Project Management
  • Experience serving as a primary contact for facility leasing or property management, including maintaining property inventories, tracking space utilization, or supporting leasing decisions.
  • Experience evaluating completed projects to assess outcomes and inform improvements for future planning and project delivery.
  • Experience developing space standards and floor plans involving building systems, and planning/executing facilities projects such as relocations, remodels, or space reconfigurations with project plans, timelines, roles, and cost estimates.
  • Experience leading or supporting sustainability initiatives or employee engagement efforts related to environmental practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including creating and managing spreadsheets, and developing formulas.
