This position requires an employee to be onsite at 3200 Labore Rd, Ste 104, Vadnais Heights, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

Job Summary
Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our DCT Finance team for an exciting opportunity as an Eligibility and Authorization Specialist. As the Eligibility and Authorization Specialist, you will secure insurance approvals for medical services before they are provided, ensuring patient access to care and preventing billing issues.
Responsibilities include:
- Confirm insurance eligibility, obtain, understand and document coverage criteria and initiate prior authorizations for all new admissions and/or upcoming appointments of inpatient, outpatient and residential services offered at all DCT programs
- Partner with Central Pre-Admissions (CPA), county representatives, insurance companies, billing and clinical teams to secure payment of inpatient admissions and outpatient services
- Communicate and educate patients and staff about the authorization process, requirements, out-of-pocket costs and timelines
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of experience in revenue cycle, medical billing, prior authorizations, or utilization management in a healthcare setting. Experience must include the following:
- Interpreting information to verify information and determine eligibility
- Translating, evaluating and presenting data in a clear and concise manner
- Collaborating with external agencies and service providers
- Using a variety of computer systems and applications such as payer portals, MMIS, Maxis, SMI, MN-ITS, Rev Connect and Connex
OR
Three (3) years of administrative support experience in the areas of revenue cycle, medical billing, prior authorizations, or utilization management in a healthcare setting. Experience must include the following:
- Process and enter verified information and determined eligibility
- Supporting and communicating data in a clear and concise manner
- Collaborating with external agencies and service providers
- Using a variety of computer systems and applications such as payer portals, MMIS, Maxis, SMI, MN-ITS, Rev Connect and Connex
Note: A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related degree may substitute for 1 year of administrative support experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Inpatient Psych, Inpatient Residential and Outpatient Mental Health.
- Experience with Medicare and Medicaid billing.
- Two (2) – Five (5) years of experience in revenue cycle, medical billing, prior authorizations, or utilization management in a healthcare setting.
