What are the responsibilities and job description for the Librarian position at State of Michigan?
This position serves as the recognized resource and subject matter expert for all library and law library operations at the Kinross Correctional Facility. It oversees daily library functions, ensures secure and compliant access to library and legal resources for inmates, and supervises all prisoner Library Clerks and Legal Writers. The role manages the Legal Writer Program, the Electronic Law Library, and all coordination with outside service providers. Additionally, it is responsible for procurement, reporting, recordkeeping, inventories, and other assigned duties.

Possession of a master's degree in library science.

Two years of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian, including one year equivalent to a Librarian 10.

Three years of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian, including one year equivalent to a Librarian P11.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
