Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at OCS

The purpose of the position is to perform technical assignments, monitor, initiate, and implement procedures necessary to perform child support centralized functions relating to enforcement, system maintenance, and customer service. This is a position where the employees perform duties that involve finding resolution on specific case or system-related issues or handling projects that involve utilizing a centralized process. The employee gathers data and performs other statistical compilations as required. Employee may serve as the first level of contact for DHHS staff, OCS Child Support Specialists, Prosecuting Attorney staff (PA), Friend of the Court staff (FOC), and child support case members; providing technical assistance in resolving centralized enforcement or customer service-related issues. This position is required to perform liaison activities with FOC staff, OCS staff and other partners and stakeholders in assisting with customer service, system maintenance or enforcement issues.

Required Education And Experience

Education

Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Departmental Technician 7

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

Departmental Technician 8

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

Departmental Technician E9

One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Alternate Education And Experience

Departmental Technician 7

Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician 8

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician E9

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Additional Requirements And Information

Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. The physical location of this position is Romney Building, 111 S. Capitol Ave., 12th Floor Lansing, MI, and occasional travel to this office may be required.

Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Responsibilities

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

  • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
  • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

As a Condition of Employment: this position requires successful completion of a background investigation and a criminal records check.
