The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Commissioner for the Division of Pretrial Detention and Services (DPDS). Develop, implement, monitor/expedite and evaluate initiatives, programs and projects involving Pretrial Facilities. In addition, the Executive Assistant is responsible for investigating high-level inquiries form the Governor, Legislators the Secretary of DPSCS, other public officials, the median and the public. The Executive assistant ensures that the office of the Commissioner of DPDS runs effectively and efficiently on a day-to-day basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes

  • Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using a high degree of discretion, integrity, and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Experience providing direct administrative support to an executive.

  • Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)

  • Sick Leave - fifteen (15) days of accumulated sick leave per year
