Introduction
Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Main Purpose of Job
The Major Gifts Officer will elevate the profile of Maryland Public Television within the philanthropic community covered� by MPT’s broadcast region by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a pool of major and planned gift prospects. The Major Gift Officer will focus on major and planned gifts of $25,000 or more and will work closely with board volunteers and senior staff to support the collective efforts of leadership annual, major gifts, and planned gift fundraising for the MPT Foundation.
POSITION DUTIES
Manage a portfolio of prospective donors with the capacity to make current gifts of $25,000 . Strengthen the Leadership Society (annual donors of $1,200 ) by developing strategies to move mid- level donors of $5,000 into major gift portfolios.�� Engage with the MPT Foundation Board to support the strategic direction of revenue replacement efforts. Strategically increase membership in the MPT Foundation’s Legacy Society by soliciting donors for planned gifts and estate commitments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�Bachelor's degree�from an accredited college or university.� Experience:��Minimum four (4) years of experience in non-profit development.� Note:� Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred qualification(s).�Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualifications. • A proven track record of personally soliciting and closing gifts of $25,000 or more • Demonstrated ability to fundraise during periods of organizational change. Experience� articulating complex funding needs (such as the shift from public to private support). • Experience with 'moves management' models and using donor databases to prioritize� outreach to a high volume of potential supporters.� • A strong belief in the mission of MPT and the importance of public media as a vital� community resource.� • Superior interpersonal skills, including being an enthusiastic team player and active� listener who works well with a wide range of internal and external constituents.� • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and the highest� professional standards.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
