Introduction

The Maryland Department of Labor - Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning is accepting applications from qualified applicants for the position of Employee Training Specialist II - GED Examiner. This is a contractual position responsible for providing teaching and learning to residents of an adult maximum correctional facility.�

The candidate will create a positive and safe testing environment in which assigned students can earn the GED/Maryland High School Diploma

POSITION DUTIES

Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Administering GED Exams (may involve travel and overnight travel within the State of Maryland. Scheduling, registering, and preparing for GED Examinations, communication with GED/Pearson, training staff to become certified to give GED Ready and GED exams, and organization and security of the GED labs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years of experience planning and conducting employee development and training. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience planning, conducting or coordinating training or staff development activities for the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in education and training classification or education and training specialty codes in the education and training field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants�who possess the following preferred qualification(s).�Include clear and specific information on your application regarding�your qualifications. 1. Experience working with incarcerated individuals and/or at-risk population. 2. Experience giving assessments.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to LABOR/DUI as a result of an unemployment insurance overpayment and/or fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The assessment may consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position.�It is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.�Please report all experience and education that is related to this position. ***Please note that your answers on the supplemental questionnaire must correspond to the information provided on your application to receive credit.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits. Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
