Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or a temporary permit.

NOTE:

The temporary APRN permit allows an APRN applicant to work in a limited capacity for up to 120 days while awaiting review for full APRN licensure by the nursing board. An APRN applicant cannot medically diagnose or medically manage patients until they are licensed and have prescriptive authority. If the APRN license is not received within the 120-day period and the permit expires, the employee must be removed from the position.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

• Responsible for performing the full scope of nursing practice involving a high level of autonomy and independent practice.
• Performs comprehensive physical examinations, secures health histories, performs or orders laboratory tests and conducts other appropriate procedure to assess the health status of patients or clients.
• Provides direct nursing care and/or directs professional, technical and paraprofessional nursing staff in management of selected patients with emphasis on high risk difficult-to-manage cases, ex: suicidal children, adolescents and adult patients; highly combative, non-compliant cases; adolescent obstetric patients with medical complications; childhood and brittle (unstable) diabetic cases; multi-system failure cases; patients dealing with dying, terminal illness, etc.
• Develops and recommends practice standards which pertain to assigned programs; evaluates care outcomes and suggests strategies to improve program delivery.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

• Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
• An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
• This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $54.87 per hour.

'Premium Pay' paid in addition to regular pay for qualifying conditions: Retention * Credentials * Experience * Shift Differential

There is Premium Pay at a rate of $5.00 per hourfor each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.

• This is a 24-hour facility.
