This isn't your standard maintenance job; it is a high-level technical command position. You will be at the helm of a sophisticated Combined Heat and Power (CHP) facility, utilizing advanced computer-based distributed control systems (DCS) to manage massive gas and steam turbines. This is a rare opportunity to operate a "micro-grid" environment where you are responsible for the generation and distribution of power on a massive scale. Three years of experience in the operation or maintenance of chemical, pulp, and paper, or oil or gas processing facilities; OR
Four years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
Job Duties:
As an Operating Engineer-Cogeneration, you will:
- Operate and maintain gas turbine generator.
- Operate and maintain power and heat recovery boilers.
- Operate and monitor electrical power distribution system.
- Perform water chemical analysis and adjust chemical treatment systems.
- Operate and monitor building management computer system.
- Call out appropriate personnel for after hours work orders.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a Probationary Appointment.
Location: Louisiana Tech University, Physical Plant-Power Plant, Ruston, LA
Work Schedule: The typical work schedule for this position is 12 hour days and night shifts. May be required to work some overtime, weekends, or holidays.
Annual Salary: Depends on Qualifications
