The Office of Technology Services aims to be a responsible partner in delivering innovative, effective, and reliable solutions that support and enhance the IT functions within Executive Branch Departments. The Office of Technology Services (OTS) will work to increase the return on the State’s investment in technology by promoting smart decision-making, solving problems intelligently, increasing the rate of project success, and fostering a skilled and professional staff.
The Division of Administration is the state government’s management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including the following:
- Overseeing the state’s capital construction program
- Working to provide state and federal grants for community development
- Development of the state budget
- Providing technology services
- Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services
- Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes
Six years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
An associate’s degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A master’s degree plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties:
Manages and directs the personnel and activities of the Storage Backup/Recovery/DR section within OTS Data Center Operations.
Manages and provides technical expertise to a staff of technical support personnel in the selection, acquisition, installation, maintenance, administration, monitoring, and management of backup/recovery software solutions, disaster recovery procedures including testing and documentation, and all hardware platforms associated with backup/recovery and DR; evaluates employee performance; schedules and assigns work; counsels employees, approves/disapproves requests for leave, and determines and enforces standards.
Oversees effort to migrate all open system data backups and disaster recovery plans for all customers into the OTS/DCO offered lines of service for Backup/Recovery/DR.
Plans, organizes and directs data backup and disaster recovery activities; reviews product releases and coordinates installation and testing with other OTS units, vendors, management, and end-users; coordinates training and consulting on usage of software products; reviews work for adherence to schedules and policies; verifies results achieved; supervises publication of technical documentation and procedures.
Identifies and analyzes current and future needs and requirements in the area of backup/recovery/DR software products for OTS/DCO to best support our customers.
Reviews software products and interfaces with vendors as needed.
Interfaces with other technical support managers in the coordination of support functions and services provided to customers of the OTS.
Verifies that change management processes are being followed and completed on a timely basis for all changes in this section.
Studies and reviews technical documents, literature, and trade publications in the field of Information Technology and management.
Performs special assignments for the Office of the CIO. Assists other Office of Technology Services sections in statewide initiatives and participates in interdepartmental task forces.
Performs all other tasks, special projects, analysis, studies, and plans as directed.
