The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking reliable and safety-conscious individuals to join our food service team in secure care facilities. As a Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker, you will help prepare and serve meals while supervising youth engaged in kitchen and cleaning activities. This role supports OJJ’s rehabilitative mission by modeling professionalism, structure, and responsibility in daily operations.
THIS IS A CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT.One year of food service experience or training in an institutional, hospital, military, or commercial food service operation; OR
Twelve semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, or institutional management.

Job Duties:
Prepare, cook, and serve meals in accordance with facility menus and dietary guidelines
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining, and storage areas
Supervise youth assigned to food service duties, ensuring safety and compliance
Operate kitchen equipment and follow institutional food safety protocols
Assist with inventory, storage, and portion control
Uphold confidentiality, mandatory reporting, and trauma-informed care standards
Participate in PREA training and other required onboarding programs

Work Location: This vacancy is located at Bridge City Center for Youth in Bridge City, Louisiana.
Appointment: Full-time, Probational
Compensation: The Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker (pay grade level WS-205) has a special entrance rate of $1,280 biweekly.
The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).
