This position serves as deputy chief administrator of a large, complex adult correctional facility.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above with direct-line supervisory responsibility over two or more subordinates:
Five years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:
1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or
2. A bachelor's degree.
OR
A master's degree plus four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR
A doctorate plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.
In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Serves as the chief administrator of the facility with responsibility for all operations in the absence of the Correction Warden 4.
- Supervises department managers, including business administrator, offender records, staff personnel managers, physician, and assistant wardens.
- Assists in coordination with prison enterprises of farm and industrial operations.
- Assists in directing and participates in facility responses to emergency situations including escapes and searches, work stoppages, hostage negotiations, and other violent and nonviolent disorders.
- Maintains written, verbal, and direct personal contact with headquarters executive and support staff offenders, families of offenders, units of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and legal counsel for offenders, staff, and the state.
- Responds on a 24-hour a day basis to significant unusual occurrences at the facility.

Appointment Type: DETAIL OF A permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
- An employee selected for detail may be permanently promoted to this position if the position becomes available.
