This position supervises a team of construction inspectors on multiple road and bridge construction projects who perform project inspection and construction management duties related to portland cement concrete pavement, structural concrete, embankment and base course, asphaltic concrete, bridges, airport runways, drainage facilities, and other structures. Ensures that work has been completed according to DOTD policies and procedures, plans, and specifications.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus five years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus five years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
Thirty semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or construction technology; OR
Possession of an engineer intern certificate.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Perform very complex, sub professional engineering tasks of a complex nature requiring intensive training & diversified experience in a specialized area; and/or to serve as lead worker over construction inspectors and/or other personnel engaged in sub professional engineering work
A working knowledge of the Department's Louisiana Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges, EDSM's especially those related to construction issues, Construction Memorandum’s, the Department's Contract Administration Manual, the Department’s Material Sampling Manual, the Department's Traffic Control Details for Work Zones, and various other Department policies.
A working knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the AASHTO 'Roadside Design Guide', and various other professional publications.
Proficiency with the following computer programs: Site Manager, HeadLight, Microstation, Citrix, File Net and Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel and any other DOTD based programs
Appointment Type: Promotional, open only to current permanent classified employees of DOTD.
Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 hour days
