Northwestern State University College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an applicant for a 12-month full-time faculty position for the Associate/Bachelor of Science degree programs and Simulation Coordinator at our Alost Hall in Natchitoches, Louisiana beginning July 1, 2025.

A Masters in Nursing is required, however, a Doctorate is preferred (required for academic rank of Associate Professor); Eligible for membership on undergraduate and/or graduate faculty.
Unencumbered licensure status as an RN or APRN in Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure. At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience; three (3) or more preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.

Academic rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. The position will remain open until filled.

  • Master's in nursing required, doctorate preferred (required for academic rank of Associate Professor).
  • Eligible for membership in undergraduate and/or graduate faculty.
  • Unencumbered licensure status as an RN or APRN in Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure.
  • At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience; three (3) or more preferred.
  • Able to establish positive relationships with colleagues and students.
  • Shall be proficient or capable of becoming proficient in curriculum development, instruction, evaluation, and academic counseling.
  • Able to pass a background check.
  • Shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
  • Perform faculty responsibilities in a large, nursing education department at Northwestern State University located on the Natchitoches Campus.
  • Assist with program expansion in Natchitoches and surrounding areas.
  • Teach all classes in a manner that will fully promote academic excellence.
  • Provide instruction in areas of expertise.
  • Evaluate student learning experiences.
  • Serve as a role model to students and peers.
  • Positively reflect on the university.
  • Assist with the maintenance of records and files pertinent to the College of Nursing.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding faculty and students following federal laws and program and university policies.
  • Assist with developing, evaluating, and revising policies and procedures within the College of Nursing.
  • Attend College of Nursing and/or university functions and committee meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain required regular office hours and excellent attendance.
  • Advise and counsel students during office hours and/or at other times and settings as needed.
  • Participate in activities that promote the College of Nursing, including those that may occur in the evenings, out of town and/or on the weekend.
  • Be flexible, collaborative, and cooperative about all college and university activities, maintaining a positive, respectful, and supportive attitude.
  • Recruit students to programs within the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College of Nursing and other university departments as well as local, state, and national agencies and professional organizations.
  • Comply with university, state, SACSCOC, ACEN, CCNE and/or other guidelines as required.
  • Serve on department or college-wide committees and/or state level committees/boards on behalf of NSU CON.
  • Represent the college and university positively in interactions with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.
  • Utilize a variety of proven teaching methods appropriate to the student population and targeted domain of learning.
  • Participate in periodic review of course materials, including development of course reports.
  • Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities including teaching pedagogy, grant writing, research, scholarly publication, and presentations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to the College of Nursing's goals, values, and objectives.

Simulation Lab Coordinator:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the simulation and skills lab, including scheduling and coordinating activities with the nursing office coordinator and nursing faculty.
  • Stay up to date on operations and maintenance of simulation lab equipment and technology by attending recommended trainings and professional development.
  • Manage and maintain simulation lab equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order through collaboration with vendors and the nursing office coordinator.
  • Provide input into the simulation lab budget, making recommendations for new equipment purchases, and managing inventory in collaboration with the Senior Director of Nursing.
  • Train and support faculty in the use of simulation lab technology and methodologies.
  • Coordinate, collaborate with faculty, and evaluate student progress during simulation/skills lab exercises, providing feedback and support.
  • Work closely with nursing faculty to integrate simulation into curricula and align activities with curriculum objectives and program learning outcomes. 
  • Ensure the simulation and skills lab program complies with accreditation standards and maintains necessary certifications.
  • Provide remediation and guided practice sessions through the simulation and skills lab to support student development and reinforce clinical competencies.
