Currently KSB has a vacant KSB/KSD Instructional Assistant position in the Instructional Section. As a KSB/KSD Instructional Assistant, you will perform under the direction of a teacher or houseparent, assist students in completing daily living skills, classroom assignments, preparing materials and assist with transporting students to various places and activities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist teachers in the classroom with instructional activities and lessons. Tutor individual students following teacher instructions.
- Prepare materials for classrooms such as braille, large print, bulletin boards and student progress reports.
- Assist students to various activities and places in the building and on campus.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High School graduate
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two (2) years of experience working within a school or classroom environment.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: None
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): An employee in this job title at the Kentucky School for the Deaf must furnish to the agency's appointing authority within twelve (12) months of appointment or entrance into this class, documentation that he or she possesses the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) rating of "Survival" level. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office or classroom setting assisting teachers and assisting students who are hearing impaired and/or vision impaired.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
