Position Summary & Responsibilities

This position serves as a Maintenance and Services Manager for Kansas Correctional Industries (KCI) and is responsible for supervising, directing and integrating multiple services, maintenance projects, preventive maintenance, warehouse and canteen operations, and support operations within a correctional environment. The position provides strategic leadership for services, maintenance, capital improvement projects, preventive maintenance, customer service, and private industry partnerships while ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The incumbent establishes goals, manages subordinate supervisors, oversees budgets and resources, and ensures compliance with KDOC, KCI, state, and federal regulations while providing meaningful work opportunities for resident workers. This position is considered a working supervisor and will be assigned tasks at HCF to include but not limited to recording and maintaining reports such as monthly utilities at KCI traditional and Private Industries operations as required, oversight of all administrative duties and reports required at the Wildhorse program, coordinating and completion of weekly safety documentation required for KCI traditional and Private Industries areas and participating in the annual inventory process for both the Canteen and KCI warehouse located at HCF. This position provides staff coverage daily at the Wildhorse program and conducts weekly visits to both KCI and PI operations for monitoring compliance issues.


Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct and manage multiple KCI services, warehouse, maintenance and private industries operations
  • Provide management oversight of preventative maintenance programs for KCI buildings, utilities, fleet, production equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Oversee major repairs, equipment installations, facility upgrades, utility improvements, regular inspections, and contractor activities.
  • Directly supervise Correctional Industries Managers and other staff responsible for assigned operations. Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, approve leave, participate in hiring, discipline etc.
  • Monitor expenditures, review purchasing requests, approve material and equipment acquisitions, and maintain cost controls for assigned divisions.
  • Develop cost estimates, business proposals, facility layouts, utility requirements, and implementations for new manufacturing operations, service contracts, equipment purchases, and capital improvement projects.
  • Serve as the liaison with vendors, customers, private industry partners, contractors and facility administration.


Qualifications

  • Education: High School Graduate (or equivalent)


Minimum Qualifications:

Four years of production work experience in the manufacture of consumer goods, including one year of supervisory experience. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
