The Iowa DOT is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented student intern to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Records team in maintaining accurate crash and traffic conviction records for approximately 3 million Iowa drivers. This role is essential to ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and providing exceptional recordkeeping services.
Preferred majors : Business Administration, Pre-Law, Criminology
Duration: Student will work full-time (up to 40 hours/week) during the summer semester. Part-time during fall and spring semesters (up to 20-hours per week).

Currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution.

The successful candidate will support the Records team in maintaining accurate crash and traffic conviction records for approximately 3 million Iowa drivers. This role is essential to ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and providing exceptional recordkeeping services.
- Support the Records team in maintaining accurate crash and traffic conviction records for approximately 3 million Iowa drivers.
- Process citation and conviction reports, including notices received through the Iowa Court Information System.
- Handle SR22 proof of insurance filings and implied consent notices in compliance with legal requirements.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with Iowa Code Chapters 321, 321A, 321C, 321J, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
- Support recordkeeping activities related to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, REAL ID, and the Federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act.
- Prepare legal documentation requests connected to driver records and convictions.
- Maintain confidentiality and data integrity across all record management processes.
