Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is seeking a Legal Secretary to support the Attorney General’s Office.
Core Essential Functions
- Provide reception coverage, respond to questions, assist customers in a professional, timely, and courteous manner.
- Receive department visitors, including deliveries and process servers. Assist process servers with obtaining eligible signatures for legal service.
- Answer general questions and route calls on multiple phone lines in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, documents, faxes, and emails. Processing includes scanning, indexing, and uploading both paper and electronic mail.
- Log all lawsuits in spreadsheet, scan, email, and deliver to the proper authority.
- Data entry of accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform back-up responsibilities for all clerical staff or as assigned.
- Interact with employees and customers in a manner that is consistent with quality customer service delivery.
- Comprehend and adhere to confidentiality and security provisions.
- Prioritize tasks and time to meet established performance goals and critical deadlines.
- Work productively in a team environment.
- Navigate efficiently in a Windows environment and utilize Word, Excel and Outlook and other personal computer programs as necessary.
- Maintain high attendance and report to work on time.
- Use independent judgement to make sound decisions, demonstrate integrity and confidentiality and a strong work ethic.
