Our dentist position at Anamosa State Penitentiary (ASP) will triage patients, evaluate concerns and perform surgeries that are safe to be done in a correctional setting and evaluate and follow the process for a patient to get dentures or partials.
The dentist will refer any patients to the UIHC (University of Iowa Health Care Facility) oral surgery department when not able to treat them on site.
The dentist will prescribe medications when needed to treat patients.
The dentist will answer O'mail (offender mail) messages, provide patient education based on assessments and with the assistance of the dental assistant, assure proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
The dentist will assist in determining what supplies need to be ordered and when equipment needs to be repaired or replaced.
The dentist would work collaboratively with the security team when scheduling patients.
