Position Overview
Under general supervision, operates the central laboratory storeroom of the Chicago laboratory; receives, stores and distributes laboratory and office supplies; transports mail from post office; performs routine clerical record keeping duties.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains stores inventory, receives, records and prepares orders for replacement of stock when authorized.
- Receives, unpacks and checks all incoming supplies for prescribed specification and damages and stores such in properly designated area.
- Issues supplies from stockroom upon written or oral requests.
- Prepares and ships laboratory supplies to other regional laboratories via United Parcel Service and Parcel Post as required.
- Operates materials handling equipment activities.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.
- Requires one year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
- Requires knowledge of store keeping and warehousing methods and procedures in the receipt, storage and shipment of a variety of goods.
- Prefers requires experience and knowledge of computerized database used for keeping of stores inventory records for goods and services.
- Requires ability to utilize various PC applications to access, enter data, analyze and procedure reports.
