CORRECTIONS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Position Overview

The Corrections Maintenance Supervisor at Menard Correctional Center is responsible for supervising subordinate maintenance staff in the facility garage, as well as hauling equipment and inspecting completed projects. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual with maintenance experience to serve in the role. Job Responsibilities

• Supervises staff in the facility garage.
• Coordinates and operates the vehicle maintenance program.
• Operates any type of pay-loading/hauling vehicle equipment.
• Participates in preparation of maintenance cost reports, requisitions, personnel reports, and annual reports.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
• Requires three (3) years of journeyman level experience in one of the maintenance or automotive repair trades.

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience supervising employees.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience pay-loading/hauling equipment.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience performing maintenance work beyond journeyman level.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience conducting vehicle inspections.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience recommending discipline.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience recommending grievance resolutions.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience gathering data and preparing reports

Conditions of Employment

• Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
• Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment.
• Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
