Duties Summary

Plan, organize and conduct administrative housekeeping services in support of program operations and activities in serving a divisional or district level program manager and program staff, and supervise clerical assistants or others; and perform other related duties as assigned.

The Staff Services Supervisor II is distinguished by its responsibility for administrative housekeeping services in support of program operations and activities in serving a divisional or district level program manager and program staff, including substantial personal involvement in staff services details on a periodic or cyclical basis. Supervision is exercised over 2-4 clerical subordinates. May also include a position in charge of facilities maintenance in a field area separate from the program manager and requiring supervision and oversight of a relatively small number (2-4) of custodial and maintenance personnel. The position carries out all staff services as well as serving as departmental representative in dealing with the public, repair and maintenance contractors, headquarters officials, and others.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

General Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible office and administrative housekeeping work experience which included the full range of office services in: 1) records and files maintenance, 2) word and mail processing, and 3) reception and related services, AND responsibility for at least one of the following areas: (a) fiscal recordkeeping; (b) budget preparation; (c) purchasing; (d) inventory control; and (e) personnel services.

Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of work experience which involved (1) planning and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and reviewing such work; (3) advising subordinates on difficult problem areas; (4) timing and scheduling the work of subordinates; (5) training and developing new employees; and (6) evaluating their performance.
