Summary
Under broad supervision, provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions, and providing treatments. Directs nurses, aides and others in the care and treatment of patients. Provides policy review for those policies related to the provision of medical and nursing care. May direct clinical operations and participate in research efforts.
Responsibilities
· Provides client medical care. Examines and evaluates the client to determine condition and needs.
· Provides supervision of mid-level staff in the provision of medical services; and registers the Protocols governing their practice with the Composite Board of Medical Examiners.
· Writes orders for any precautions, restrictions, medications, or consultations necessary for appropriate treatment.
· Facilitates hospitalization of clients as needed. Maintains clinical records according to prescribed protocols
· Provides care, advice, and referral coordination via telephone and secure messaging as appropriate.
· Leads interdisciplinary team in formulating individualized treatment plans. Works with clinicians, nurses, and direct care staff to evaluate progress and revise treatment plan as needed.
· Reviews Policies addressing the provision of medical and nursing services on an ongoing basis.
· Assists the Clinical Director in determining the medical staffing needs of all areas of the agency.
· Provide medical expertise and presence in the event of a public health emergency.
· Facilitate public awareness and education programs to promote early detection and prevention of disease and/or environmental hazards.
Minimum Qualifications
· Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) AND licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law AND Two years of experience at the lower-level Physician 2 (HCP161) or position equivalent.
