Summary
The CT Technologist, under the direction of the radiologist(s), performs total body imaging for pediatric and adult patients in various body planes, which results in the production of quality images for diagnostic interpretation. This will individual will effectively utilize all imaging capabilities of the CT scanner. They will maintain the highest level of patient care and assist in the optimization of patient flow and study throughput.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
- Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
- Loading and operating power injections for contrast media administration
- Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to Image Archival System.
- Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.
- Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for CT scans.
- Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologists, referring offices and other associates and peers
- Provide education and training to student technologists.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
- Coordinate scheduling and patient flow
- Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocols.
- Assist with the education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, fellows, and attendees). If applicable.
- Assist radiologists in developing new protocols and CT imaging techniques that are unique to facility.
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Assists with ACR accreditation.

- Compiles information and prepares reports.
- Maintains records.
- Participates in educational activities.
- Follows organizational policies and procedures, including State of Franklin Healthcare Associates Compliance Manual, Code of Ethics and Business Standards, HR Policies and Procedures Manual, Team Member Handbook, OSHA Manual and any other policies or procedures for the job function, department, location or clinic.

Education
Graduate from an accredited Radiology Technology program.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of one year experience in CT scan applications.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Active License with the Tennessee State Department of Health as a X-Ray Operator. Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Advanced certification in CT preferred. If not registered, CT Registration through ARRT required within 12 months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Working Conditions
