Criminal Justice Data Analyst

Location:  1350 Northwest 12 Avenue
                   Miami, Florida 33136

Position Overview

The Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office (SAO) is filling a full-time Criminal Justice Data Analyst position in the Smart Justice Strategies Unit (SJSU). The SJSU structures and analyzes data for the purposes of improving transparency, identifying areas of critical need, and further developing SAO’s data-driven and evidence-based practices.

The SJSU will help us evaluate all aspects of the MDC criminal justice system, including: current laws and processes, investigations, civil citations, arrests, intake, our use of risk assessments, release decisions (i.e., bail/bond, pre-trial services, etc.), diversionary programs (including treatment courts), sentencing practices, and potential disparities. We will use this information to create a more efficient, effective, strategic, and fair system. The SJSU will develop our Smart Justice portal to transparently communicate the data, findings, and insights to the public. The public data portal will be free to use and provide a direct service to a population of more than 2.7 million. We will document the SJSU's work (including all scripting) so it may be used as a model and easily replicated in other jurisdictions.

Employees will be required to work eight (8) hours daily during between 7:00 am and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
