Your Specific Responsibilities

This is a highly responsible position in the Office of Rural Health (ORH), Bureau of Emergency Medical Oversight, Division of Emergency Preparedness and Community Support, planning, coordinating, monitoring and reporting on the activities of the Flex Medicare Rural Hospital Grant Program. This position requires the incumbent to be self-directed and work with the Office of Rural Health team, and the funder’s project officer (Health Resource Services Administration) to ensure program objectives align with federal Flex grant guidelines.

Responsibilities Include

  • Oversight of program operations and working with the ORH Flex Analyst to develop and execute short- and long-term strategies for improving rural healthcare quality, accessibility and sustainability.
  • Efficiently collecting, analyzing, and reporting performance, financial, and/or quality data from rural hospitals, especially through programs like MBQIP (Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project).
  • Establishing connections with critical access hospitals (CAHs), Emergency Medical Services, clinics, community stakeholders, state health offices, and federal agencies to advance program goals.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of federal and state health policies and CAH requirements.
  • Overseeing, coordinating, and planning Flex program deliverables of contracted management consulting vendors.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of public health, public administration, health care or social services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to work well with a team to accomplish program goals.
  • Knowledge of federal grant systems, such as the Electronic Handbook (EHB).
  • Proficiency with Office suite applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic accounting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to complete, plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

Qualifications

Professional experience in social services, public health, or health care education is preferred.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, flexibility, innovation, and desire to improve health care for Florida’s rural residents.
